TRON has become one of the highest-volume networks for stablecoin transfers, especially USDT (Tether), thanks to low fees and fast confirmations. Much of its real usage revolves around moving digital dollars rather than a diverse DeFi ecosystem, which makes it a very specific use case.
Delegated consensus with 27 validators
TRON uses delegated proof of stake (DPoS): TRX holders vote for 27 "Super Representatives" that produce the blocks. That model enables high speed and very low fees, but concentrates validation in a small number of actors, which means a higher degree of centralization than other networks.
An energy and bandwidth model
Instead of paying each transaction with a variable fee, TRON uses a resource system: staking TRX grants "energy" and "bandwidth" that let you operate at no direct cost. This design explains why transferring stablecoins on TRON can be cheap, though it adds a layer of complexity compared with the gas model of other networks.
