CCD, the Concordium token

CCD is the native token of Concordium. CCD is a payment token that can be used for a variety of purposes, including paying for the execution of smart contracts, payments between users, and payments for business transactions.

After three years of development, Concordium’s blockchain made its debut on the mainnet on June 9, 2021, paving the way for any user to access the Concordium platform and offering the world access to a secure, regulatable, and sustainable blockchain.

The Genesis Block of Concordium was created on June 1, 2021, and Concordium’s blockchain began on June 9, 2021, at 8:00 AM CET. Ten billion CCD were created in the genesis block. After this, the only mechanism to create more CCD is the minting process. As of January 23, 2024, the total amount of CCD in the market amounts to 12,812,880,323.

These figures indicate a wide distribution and significant adoption of CCD within the Concordium community, reflecting both the health of the ecosystem and its steady growth.

To send a transaction to the blockchain, a fee in CCD must be paid. The price of transactions is set in EUR, not in CCD. This means they are not subject to CCD fluctuations. In this way, businesses can plan the cost of their operations.
