Why look for a Paybis alternative?
Paybis launched in 2014 as a platform to buy and sell cryptocurrencies with everyday payment methods — card, bank transfer, PayPal, Skrill — with no trading interface or order book. Twelve years later it reports over 6.9 million customers and $5.5bn in cumulative volume, with operating HQ in Warsaw (Poland). Its most recent milestone landed on 12 May 2026: its new EU entity, SIA "Paybis Europe" (Riga, Latvia), obtained authorisation as a Crypto-Asset Service Provider (CASP) under MiCA and, the same day, a payment-institution licence under PSD2, both granted by the Bank of Latvia.
That licence changes the legal framework, not the product. Paybis remains, first and foremost, an on-ramp broker: you buy crypto and receive it in Paybis’s own custodial wallet or send it directly to an external wallet; there is no exchange with an order book, no native staking and no crypto card. The brand has also historically operated through several entities — a UK company (Paybis Ltd), an operating entity in Poland (Paybis Poland Sp. z o.o.) and now the Latvian CASP — so it is worth confirming exactly which entity you are contracting with before depositing.
This guide compares, with public and dated sources, how Bit2Me stacks up against Paybis on regulation, custody, fees and support for anyone igaüks, kes tegutseb eurodes Euroopas — the ground where it is really decided which platform makes sense for more than a one-off purchase.

Public record
Reputation and documented facts about Paybis
Sanctions, incidents or controversies recorded in official sources or verifiable media. Bit2Me does not pass judgment: we cite public facts.
Intercurrency Software LLC sued Paybis Ltd. for patent infringement over currency-exchange platform technology in a US federal court (Eastern District of Texas). The case closed in December 2024 via a joint dismissal with prejudice following a confidential settlement, with no finding or admission of liability.

Independent reviews (Coin Bureau) and Trustpilot’s own public reviews document a recurring pattern of accounts suspended or transactions rejected for compliance reasons that Paybis does not disclose to affected users, presented by the company as part of its anti-fraud and security controls.

These records do not rule out the competitor being suitable in other contexts; they are part of the due diligence worth doing before depositing funds.
Verdict
Paybis and Bit2Me now share the same framework: both are MiCA-authorised CASPs. But not the same contract or the same product. You sign with Paybis through SIA "Paybis Europe" in Latvia, authorised just on 12 May 2026, and its business is limited to buying and selling crypto for up to a 1.49% service fee plus a 4.5%-8.5% processing fee on cards. Bit2Me is a Spanish company directly supervised by the CNMV since July 2025, with Pro, Earn, Card, Loan and Tax in the same account, free SEPA deposits and mitmekeelne tugi inimmeeskonnaga company, Bit2Me fits better.

Paybis in Latvia (May 2026) vs Bit2Me’s Spanish CASP: a regulatory tie, not in track record
Per the official Latvijas Banka register and Paybis’s own terms of service, its European entity SIA "Paybis Europe" obtained CASP authorisation under MiCA on 12 May 2026 (licence No. 27-55/2026/6) and, the same day, a payment-institution licence under PSD2 (No. 27-55/2026/7). This lets Paybis passport its services across the EU and EEA, including Spain. Before that date, the brand operated in Europe under lighter national registrations (VASP in Poland, among others), not a full MiCA authorisation — and it still relies, per its own terms, on its Polish entity for part of the payment infrastructure «for a transitional period».
Bit2Me has been authorised as a CASP by the CNMV since 28 July 2025 — nearly ten months before Paybis’s Latvian licence — as a single Spanish company (Bitcoinforme, S.L.), previously registered with the Bank of Spain. Both are technically MiCA CASPs: there is no regulatory ❌ to pin on Paybis. The real difference is who you claim against and how much track record backs the licence: the CNMV in Europe, with nearly a year of supervision under the framework, versus a Latvian supervisor that has been assessing Paybis under it for only weeks.
Paybis’s custodial wallet vs Bit2Me’s insured cold custody
Paybis’s default product is a free custodial wallet: Paybis holds the keys and the user does not receive a seed phrase, per its own wallet FAQ. Real self-custody requires explicitly choosing to send the purchased crypto to an external address at checkout. Independent reviews (FXEmpire) list «Proof of Reserves: N/A» and «Insurance: N/A» in its security overview; the certification it does hold, PCI DSS Level 1, protects card payment data, not the custody of the crypto assets themselves.
Bit2Me keeps funds mostly in cold storage, multisig and HSM FIPS 140-2, insures Bit2Me Custody assets under a $150M policy, has operated without a security incident since 2014 and is certified under ISO 27001, 27701, 22301 and more. You can withdraw your crypto to your own wallet whenever you want — it is not a checkout option, it is your account’s default behaviour.
Stacked service + processing fees at Paybis vs published fees from 0.1% at Bit2Me
Paybis’s own blog breaks down three components on a card purchase: a 1.49% service fee (0% only on your first purchase of each cryptocurrency), a 4.5%-8.5% processing fee depending on currency and method, and a variable network fee. In a worked example Paybis itself publishes, buying $1,000 by card costs $62.90 in total ($14.90 service + $45 processing + ~$3 network), i.e. 6.3% of the amount. Paying by bank transfer lowers the processing leg, but the service fee still applies from the second purchase of each asset.
Bit2Me publishes a simple-purchase fee of between 0.1% and 0.95% depending on the method, and Bit2Me Pro reaches up to 0% maker / 0.10% taker on liquid pairs (e.g. BTC/EUR), with free SEPA deposits. On the same €1,000 operation, Pro’s 0.10% taker rate costs €1 versus the roughly $63 in Paybis’s own published card example.

24/7 chat with no mitmekeelne tugi inimmeeskonnaga at Bit2Me
Paybis offers 24/7 live chat in 9 languages with a 1-2 minute first-response time and replies to 99% of negative Trustpilot reviews, where it holds a 4.1/5 rating across more than 31,000 reviews — a genuinely responsive chat operation. At the same time, independent reviews (Coin Bureau) and Trustpilot’s own reviews document a recurring pattern: some accounts are suspended or transactions rejected for compliance reasons that Paybis, per its own support articles, does not disclose to affected users «to protect security protocols».
Bit2Me answers with mitmekeelne tugi inimmeeskonnaga users, with the CNMV as the formal complaints channel if something is not resolved directly.
Buy and hold, or actually trade: on-ramp broker vs full exchange
Paybis’s core product across its twelve-year history has been the «buy crypto with a card or transfer» funnel: no live order book, no margin or futures, no native staking programme — its own wallet FAQ describes staking as a «planned» future feature, not available today — and no crypto card of its own. Its B2B business is a white-label on/off-ramp API for companies, not a consumer product. If your entire crypto journey is «buy monthly and hold», this simplicity is enough.
Bit2Me covers that first purchase and everything after: Pro’s order book for active trading, Earn to generate yield, Card to spend, Loan for liquidity without selling and Tax for reporting — all under the same CNMV-authorised company. Going beyond a first purchase on Paybis usually means opening a second, different platform; on Bit2Me it means opening another tab in the same account.
What switching from Paybis to Bit2Me really costs
Getting crypto out of Paybis’s custodial wallet means sending it to an external address: check the network and first do a test with a small amount, since the network fee is variable and non-refundable. The alternative is selling inside Paybis to your currency and withdrawing by bank transfer, but that crystallises any capital gain for tax purposes.
Arriving at Bit2Me costs nothing extra: SEPA deposits are free and Pro’s fees do not require any paid plan. The sensible approach is to first do a test withdrawal from Paybis, then move the bulk of the balance, resolving any doubt by mitmekeelne tugi inimmeeskonnaga rather than a chat queue.
Which one to choose? It depends on your profile
Bit2Me — pros
- MiCA CASP authorised by the CNMV since July 2025, with nearly a year more track record than Paybis’s Latvian licence.
- Cold custody insured under a $150M policy and withdrawal to your own wallet by default, without a custodial-only wallet.
- Published fees from 0.1% (up to 0%/0.10% on Pro for liquid pairs) versus Paybis’s stacked 1.49% + 4.5%-8.5% on card.
- mitmekeelne tugi inimmeeskonnaga and a CNMV complaints channel, not only 24/7 chat.
- A suite of over 30 products (Pro, Earn, Card, Loan, Tax) versus Paybis’s buy/sell broker.
Paybis — things to consider
- Buying without identity verification up to $1,000 in most regions, including the EU, and full KYC in about 2 minutes when required.
- Over 20 payment methods (card, SEPA, PayPal, Skrill, Neteller, Apple/Google Pay) and coverage in over 180 countries.
- Service fee (1.49%) plus processing fee (4.5%-8.5% on card) stacked on every purchase after the first of each asset.
- Custodial-by-default wallet with no published proof of reserves; no order-book exchange, staking or crypto card of its own.
- MiCA CASP licence in force only since May 2026, the most recent among the competitors typically compared with Bit2Me.
When to choose Paybis?
- You buy crypto occasionally with a card, PayPal or Skrill and prefer not to verify your identity for small amounts.
- You need coverage in a non-EU country where Paybis offers local payment methods Bit2Me does not cover.
If, on the other hand, you are looking for a Paybis alternative because you care about European regulation, predictable fees, the safety of your funds and support in your language, Bit2Me addresses exactly those needs.
