Flare (FLR) is a layer 1 blockchain compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) that seeks to enhance the utility of blockchain technology by providing decentralized access to high-integrity data from other chains and the traditional web. This capability allows developers to create interoperable applications that integrate information from different blockchains as well as web2 sources, expanding the possibilities for use cases in areas such as decentralized finance (DeFi), social networks, and real-world assets. The native token of the network, FLR, is used to pay transaction fees and participate in validator nodes that secure the network. In addition, FLR tokens can be converted into their ERC-20 variant, WFLR, which allows users to delegate tokens to data providers of the Flare Time Series Oracle (FTSO) or participate in the platform's governance.
