Diem heritage and the Move language
Aptos was created by former engineers of the Diem project (the blockchain Meta backed) and uses Move, a contract language designed for safety: it treats assets as "resources" that cannot be copied or accidentally lost, cutting out a whole class of bugs common on other chains.

Aptos’s distinctive technical feature is Block-STM, an engine that runs transactions in parallel rather than one by one, detecting conflicts and reprocessing only what is needed.
