Gas (GAS) is the utility token of the NEO blockchain, a platform that enables the development of decentralized applications (dApps) and smart contracts. In the NEO ecosystem, a dual-token model is employed: NEO and GAS. While NEO represents a stake in the network's governance, GAS is used to cover transaction fees and costs associated with executing smart contracts and storing tokens on the blockchain. Users who hold NEO tokens automatically generate GAS as a reward, without the need for an active staking process. This passive distribution of GAS incentivizes participation in the network and contributes to its security and efficiency. Additionally, GAS is divisible up to 0.00000001 units, which facilitates its use in various transactions within the NEO ecosystem.
