About Telos
Telos is a next-generation blockchain that uses a Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS) consensus mechanism. It is positioned as a Layer 0 blockchain network (with Layer 1 capabilities), offering a highly efficient, fast and cost-effective platform for the development and deployment of decentralised applications (dApps) and smart contracts. The Telos project began its development in 2018, when a group of developers and members of the EOS community started working on a fork of this well-known blockchain, in order to revitalise its development. Instead, it opted for a fair token distribution, reflecting its commitment to decentralisation and fairness from the outset. The end result of all these efforts is the initial launch of Telos, whose mainnet went live on 12 December 2018. Since then, Telos has been evolving significantly, boosting its capabilities to the maximum. In fact, in 2022, with the arrival of the Antelope project (a community version of EOSIO), Telos was one of the first blockchains to support and develop this community solution and take advantage of its new capabilities to continue evolving as a project.
