The key difference is supply. Bitcoin will never exceed 21 million BTC. Dogecoin has no cap: it issues about 5 billion new DOGE every year indefinitely, a fixed and perpetual inflation. That scarcity contrast defines why they are used so differently.
Bitcoin was designed as an electronic cash system and today works as a store of value. Dogecoin was created in 2013 as a joke based on a Shiba Inu dog meme; its tech derives from Litecoin. Much of its value depends on community sentiment and occasional mentions, not on a solid monetary use case.
