About Cristina Carrascosa
Cristina Carrascosa Cobos is a Spanish lawyer specialised in corporate law, blockchain technology, and crypto-assets. With a solid legal background, she has built her career at leading international firms such as Broseta, Cuatrecasas, and Pinsent Masons, where she went on to lead the global blockchain and fintech practice, advising banks, financial institutions, and crypto-asset service providers on licensing, regulatory compliance, and digital business models. Since 2018 she has been a member of the Legal Expert Group of the EU Blockchain Observatory and Forum, a European Commission initiative. She is the only Spanish woman selected for that legal expert group, where she has co-authored technical reports that informed the MiCA Regulation, the DLT pilot regime, and other pieces of the European regulatory framework on digital assets. Her work covers crypto-asset custody, smart contracts, tokenisation, and data protection. After a stage in Switzerland focused on crypto-asset issuances, she returned to Spain and in 2021 founded ATH21, the first Spanish law firm specialised in blockchain and cryptocurrencies, where she serves as CEO. She combines the European institutional perspective with practical advice to startups, exchanges, and compliance teams operating in regulated markets. Carrascosa is one of the most cited legal voices in the Spanish and European crypto ecosystem, with appearances at conferences, specialised media, and educational projects on digital financial regulation.
