Why does VeChain use two tokens (VET and VTHO)?

VeChain splits value and usage cost into two assets: VET is the coin you hold, and simply holding it automatically generates VTHO (VeThor), the token spent to pay for transactions and smart contracts. This way the price of VET can swing without raising the cost of using the network, because fees are paid in VTHO, not VET.

How long does a VeChain transaction take?

The VeChainThor network produces a block every 10 seconds, so a transaction usually confirms on that order of time. Its PoA 2.0 consensus adds a finality mechanism that prevents chain reorganizations, a trait designed for enterprise use cases where the record must be immutable.

What fees does the VeChain network charge?

Fees are paid in VTHO and tend to be low and predictable. With the upgrade inspired by Ethereum’s EIP-1559, part of each fee (around 70%) is burned and the rest rewards the nodes that produce blocks. Remember you need VTHO, not VET, to be able to send VET from a self-custody wallet.
